Hi Julianne and all!
Thanks lots for checking in on who might be at ISEA2004, Julianne. I am
afraid that I am rather too immersed in the realisation of the event to have
lifted my head to ask!!
I think it would be a marvellous idea for any of you who are indeed coming
to ISEA2004 who were either at the Delhi meeting or have joined the list
since to meet at ISEA2004. There are two networking meetings planned with
an "Asia" focus. One that is specifically targeted to ASEM countries (a
group of 16 european and asian countries that have formed an alliance to
build exchange) whose cultural exchange is supported through ASEF. This is
a more formal meeting where the artists from ASEM countries in the ISEA2004
programme will present.
The other Asia focus network meeting on the ferry programme on the 16th is
more open and could well be a platform for re-opening some of the debates
that were begun in Delhi in December last year.
It would be great to also find a platform to get feedback from the summit
Julianne mentions -- though it reads to me as if the summit is to precede
ISEA2006, so perhaps this could be a forum to feed into the agenda of that
summit??
I would welcome your feedback and gladly work on ensuring that your
interests are addressed at ISEA2004, even if it is an event that occurs on
the opposite side of the world!! We will certainly have an interesting
cross section of networking meetings and hope that they might provide some
incentive for an ongoing exchange to emerge: even if, as we well know, this
is not an easy exchange across complex boundaries.
Another of the networking meetings that will take place is of an emerging
African network, also through related support from UNESCO (the meeting arose
from our capacity to invite a range of artists from Africa), so a dialogue
about the different ways to approach intra- and inter-regional networks
might also be an interesting outcome?
Regards
Amanda
